 New National Trust Visitors Centre

The Brief

  • To construct a contemporary modern building, to blend within the grounds of the Historic Tyntesfield House. The new building is constructed at the entrance to the estate and used as a welcome centre and ticket office before entering the National Trust estate.

Work Included

  • Temporary works to ensure paths and walkways were maintained for the visiting public.
  • Significant levelling and stepped traditional foundations.
  • Steel frame to create large open spaces.
  • Timber and masonry infill clad with larch boards to the external walls.
  • Birch faced plywood cladding and detailing to the internal walls.
  • Thermally broken efficient aluminium glazing.
  • External and landscaping works to blend the building with the existing landscape.
